Nationals Come Back Late to Clip Pirates
|
The Washington Nationals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-3, at Nationals Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of center fielder Aaron Hicks, who captured player of the game honors. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The Nationals are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 5th win in 12 games.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Hicks delivered big-time for Washington, stroking a dramatic 3-run home run off Adam Warren. The game-changing hit put the Nationals on top, 6-3.
"I felt good up there," said Hicks. "I saw the ball well."
