Orioles Top Red Sox to Even Record
|
The Baltimore Orioles stymied the Boston Red Sox, 7-0, at Fenway Park. Shohei Ohtani, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball for Baltimore. With the win, Baltimore is 8-8.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Orioles had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the ninth, when second baseman Daniel Murphy hit a grand slam home run. The home run came off Edwin Diaz and made the score 7-0, Orioles. Murphy went 2-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.
Murphy called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
