Indians Lose to Mariners, 6-1
|
It was a fun time at Safeco Field, where the Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners tangled.
Seattle pitcher Jose Berrios did his part in helping his team beat the Cleveland Indians, 6-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Berrios, now 1-1, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 7, walking 8, and allowing 1 earned run. Alex Wilson earned the save for Seattle, his 1st.
The Mariners got a big at-bat from catcher Willians Astudillo. For the game, Astudillo was 2-3 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Seattle a 2-0 lead.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Berrios told a Seattle Bulletin reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
Losses have been rare for the Indians, who are now 12-4.
