Streaking Nationals Win Another One
|
It was a fun time at Nationals Park, where the San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals tangled.
Washington Nationals starter Zack Wheeler was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the San Francisco Giants, 5-1. Wheeler, now 1-1, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run.
The Nationals got a big at-bat from center fielder Aaron Hicks. For the game, Hicks went 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 5th double of the season gave Washington a 4-1 lead.
"Zack was pounding the zone," said Washington manager Maurice Hamilton.
The Giants fall to 9-11 and continue their uneasy start to the 2019 season.
