Marlins Pull Even With 3-1 Victory
|
The Miami Marlins got a strong performance from pitcher Johnny Cueto, who stymied the Washington offense en route to a 3-1 win at Marlins Park. Cueto picked up the win for Miami, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 3-2. Blake Treinen closed the game out for Miami, earning his 5th save.
David Dahl, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in total bases with 51, chipped in for Miami with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Cueto.
The Nationals drop to 10-10 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2019 season.
