Alonso Helps Washington Cruise to 10-1 Win
|
The Washington Nationals coasted to a win over the St. Louis Cardinals, 10-1. Yonder Alonso had a good day at the plate for Washington. He slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. The win was credited to Wade Miley in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Jesse Hahn took the loss. The Cardinals fall to 9-21 and continue to sputter in the early going.
Nick Franklin had a big run-scoring single for the Nationals in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Washington leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from Jesse Hahn and stroked the single to center. It was his 1st hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Nationals ahead, 3-1.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Alonso said after the game.
