Giants Get Win, Extend Streak to 5
|
The Cincinnati Reds got a sterling performance from pitcher Felix Hernandez, but the Giants still prevailed, 2-1. Hernandez was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball. Jake Odorizzi got the win, improving to 3-2. He held the Reds to no earned runs on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 4. San Francisco has a record of 17-15.
San Francisco relied on the bat of Kyle Seager to get the win. The third baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Giants ahead, 1-0. For the game, Seager had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Seager said after the game.
