Extra-Inning Win by Giants over Reds
|
The San Francisco Giants defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 11-6, at Great American Ball Park. San Francisco center fielder Tyler Naquin was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. San Francisco reliever Chris Devenski was credited with the win, to go to 2-1. Edgar Santana took the loss for Cincinnati. San Francisco has now won 6 in a row.
San Francisco used the timely hitting of Daniel Palka to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Giants on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Naquin. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
