The Texas Rangers started the League Championship Series in style today, winning on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre by a score of 5-4 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Rangers shortstop Andrelton Simmons was named player of the game after he went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles.

Matt Wieters's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With no one out, he rapped a curveball from Dellin Betances for a 2-run single. It put Texas in front, 5-4.

"Feels good to get the job done," Simmons said after the game.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Rogers Centre in Toronto. Slated to start are Kendall Graveman for Texas and Nathan Eovaldi for Toronto.
