Panik, Nationals Wallop Brewers in Game 3 of LCS
|
With second baseman Joe Panik leading the charge, the Washington Nationals defeated the visiting Milwaukee Brewers, 6-2, in Game 3 of the League Championship Series today. Panik went 1 for 3 with a home run and was hit 2 times. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 at Nationals Park to help Washington take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Tied up with the Brewers in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Nationals got a boost from right fielder Marcell Ozuna. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Ozuna saw a 2-2 slider from Jon Gray and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Washington on top, 3-2.
"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'Washington Nationals (probably) 2018 World Series Champions'," Panik told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"
Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow at Nationals Park. The scheduled starters for the game are Lance McCullers Jr. for Milwaukee and Alex Reyes for Washington.
