Almost There: Washington On Cusp of LCS Triumph After 5-3 Win
|
The Washington Nationals moved to within one game of the World Series today, downing the visiting Milwaukee Brewers at Nationals Park by a score of 5-3. Nationals right-hander Alex Reyes was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 5 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Nationals a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
In the bottom of the first, Washington center fielder Aaron Hicks had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and no one out, Hicks stroked a 2-run home run to left. It made the score 2-0, Washington. For the game, he was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Reyes. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Adam Wainwright for the Milwaukee Brewers and Corey Kluber for the the Washington Nationals.
