Home Loss Shrinks Nationals' Series Lead to 3-2
|
Already down in the World Series, the Toronto Blue Jays put on their best show, beating the Washington Nationals by a final score of 3-2 today. Corey Kluber earned player of the game honors, as he threw 6 innings allowing 3 runs. Toronto now trails Washington 3-2 in the best-of-7 affair.
Tied up with the Nationals in the top of the fourth inning, the Blue Jays got a boost from first baseman Josh Bell. With a runner on 1st, Bell saw a full count fastball from Corey Kluber and hit a run-scoring double to break the stalemate and put Toronto on top, 1-0.
Bell said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday in Toronto. Slated to start are Nathan Karns for the Washington Nationals and Michael Fulmer for the the Toronto Blue Jays.
