Red Sox Win at Baltimore, 5-1
|
Baltimore shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Cabrera was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, even as Boston beat the Orioles, 5-1. Cabrera was named the player of the game despite the loss. The win was credited to Connor Sadzeck in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Danny Duffy took the loss. The first-place Red Sox have a one-game lead in their division.
Boston used the timely hitting of Jackie Bradley Jr. to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Bradley Jr. told the Boston Chronicle.
