Indians Hammered by Mazara, Drop Game 4 to Orioles
|
On the verge of being swept and facing a red-hot Cleveland Indians team, the Baltimore Orioles had a tough assignment. Nomar Mazara delivered.
The Orioles right fielder was unstoppable for the visitors, as he went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once in guiding his club to its first victory of the series, 8-3. Mazara, 24, was named player of the game for his efforts. The win means Baltimore now trails 3-1 in the best-of-7 series.
Baltimore took a 7-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With two out, first baseman Joey Votto hit a grand slam home run that electrified the crowd.
"We're feeling good in this clubhouse right now after that one," Votto told the Baltimore Daily News.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in Baltimore. Slated to start are Max Scherzer for Cleveland and Drew Smyly for Baltimore.
