The San Francisco Giants defeated the Colorado Rockies, 8-5. Earning player of the game honors was center fielder Mike Trout, who was 3-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. San Francisco reliever Luke Leftwich was the winner. His record is now 3-0. Adam Conley took the loss. Brad Boxberger sewed up the save, his 1st.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Tyler Naquin came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Colorado pitcher Kazuhisa Makita, he hit a 1-2 slider for a run-scoring triple. It was a game-changer, putting San Francisco on top, 6-5.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Naquin told the San Francisco Gazette.
