Boston played host to Houston at the friendly confines of Fenway Park.

Boston beat Houston on the strength of starter Marco Gonzales's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 6-2 win. Gonzales, now 3-3, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs.

The Red Sox got a big at-bat from right fielder Yasiel Puig. For the game, Puig was 1 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 9th double of the season gave Boston a 1-0 lead.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Puig.
