Tampa Bay-Houston Trade: Zobrist for O'Day Thursday, April 25th, 2019 It came down to the last hour of a self-imposed trade deadline, but the Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros finally came to an agreement on a trade that had been rumored for weeks. The trade sends Tampa Bay's 37-year-old 2B Ben Zobrist to Houston in a swap for 36-year-old RHP Darren O'Day. Both GMs seemed relieved that the deal had been completed with one stating, "We had to set a deadline to get it done." The players are expected to report to their new teams by tomorrow. Zobrist on the season is hitting .308 with no home runs. His stats include 2 RBIs and no runs scored. This season O'Day has recorded no saves with a 1-1 record. He's made 12 relief appearances, tossed 10.1 innings while fanning 13 with a 2.61 ERA. |
