Pirates Mathematically Out of Playoffs
Saturday, September 7th, 2019
The Pittsburgh Pirates were certainly not a team of destiny this year and now they have been eliminated from playoff contention.

"We thought we had a better chance than this," said reliever Ryan Pressly. "It's a big disappointment."

This is the club's 4th playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 2015. In the last 10 seasons, the Pirates have missed the playoffs 7 times. In total, the Pirates have missed the playoffs 135 times in their 147-year history. Pittsburgh last won the World Series in 1979.
