Postseason Bid Ends for Chicago Saturday, September 21st, 2019 A late-season playoff push is not in the cards for the Chicago White Sox. The club today was mathematically knocked out of playoff contention. "There are a lot of long faces around right now," said White Sox manager Corey Krentsa. "You know in your head that every year, most teams in baseball have to go through this, but it still hurts when you realize you've lost your shot at a title." Before this season, the White Sox last missed the playoffs in 2017. In the 136 years they have been a Major League Baseball franchise, they have missed the playoffs 129 times. In the last 10 years, they have missed the playoffs 9 times. Chicago last won the World Series in 2005. |
