Smokies Heyer and Yard Goats Perrin Suspended for Fight

After an intense confrontation, both the Smokies Luke Heyer and the Yard Goats Jon Perrin were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent Tennessee-Hartford game. Luke Heyer will miss 5 games, while Jon Perrin was suspended for 3 games.

"Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Luke Heyer commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play."

In 22 games Heyer is hitting .276 this season with 21 hits, 3 home runs, 14 RBIs, 7 walks, .356 OBP and has scored 13 runs.

This season Perrin has nailed down no saves with 41 strikeouts in 38.1 innings. He is credited with 3 wins and 1 loss and has a 3.05 earned run average.
