Arias Gets 4-Game Suspension
Monday, July 15th, 2019
The league commissioner's office has notified the Tennessee Smokies that shortstop Gabriel Alejandro Arias has been given a 4-game suspension for his involvement in an incident with the home plate umpire in yesterday's Tennessee-Altoona game at People's Natural Gas Field. After being called out on a pitch that he deemed a ball, Arias aggressively expressed his displeasure and was promptly ejected from the game.

In the league suspension notice, it stated that he was suspended for making an obscene gesture toward the umpires prior to entering the dugout. The league said that type of behavior would not be tolerated.

Arias and the Smokies were unavailable for comment.

This season Arias is batting .225 with 10 home runs.
