Cardinals Pitching Ravaged by Ramirez
Thursday, July 18th, 2019
Jacksonville left fielder Tyler Ramirez had a big day at Hammons Field today against the Springfield Cardinals. The 24-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led the Jumbo Shrimp to a 14-9 triumph over Springfield.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Ramirez said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
Tyler Ramirez hit a solo-shot off Mitch Keller in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, hit a two-run double in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.
Ramirez is hitting .302 so far this season with 52 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He has 90 hits including 13 home runs, 31 walks and .369 OBP.
