Medina Raps Springfield for 5 Hits
Thursday, August 8th, 2019
A jubilant Jose Alfonso Medina joined the postgame press conference at Hammons Field today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Springfield Cardinals pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Harrisburg Senators left fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-8 hitting performance, which led the Senators to a 33-6 win.
"He made it look easy," said , manager of the Cardinals. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Jose Alfonso Medina grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, hit a two-run single in the 9th and singled in the 9th.
Thus far this season Medina is hitting .316 with 1 home run, 7 RBIs and 7 runs scored. He has 12 hits in 38 at-bats and has played in 10 games.
