Ruiz Hits for the Cycle Monday, August 19th, 2019 Today at Whataburger Field, Corpus Christi Hooks third baseman Rio Ruiz accomplished a true baseball rarity, knocking a single, double, triple and a home run to hit for the cycle and lead the Hooks to a 11-2 win over the Birmingham Barons. In a standout performance, Ruiz laced 5 hits in 5 at-bats and had 5 runs batted in. "I felt good before the game, I felt good during it, and I feel great now," Ruiz told reporters. Rio Ruiz doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Osvaldo Berrios in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Osvaldo Berrios in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th and singled in the 8th. On the year Ruiz has hit .376 with 16 home runs, 94 RBIs and scored 82 runs. |
