Ruiz Batters Birmingham for 5 Hits Monday, August 19th, 2019 It seemed that Corpus Christi third baseman Rio Ruiz could do no wrong as the Hooks KO'd the Barons, 11-2 today. Ruiz rapped out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and seemed to know which pitches Barons hurlers were throwing. "I think the Hooks were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Birmingham fan after the game. "I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Ruiz in the postgame press interview. Rio Ruiz doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Osvaldo Berrios in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Osvaldo Berrios in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th and singled in the 8th. So far this season Ruiz is hitting .376 with 16 home runs. |
