Canning Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games

Gage Canning has been ripping hits every day for a while now, and nobody seems able to stop him. The Carolina center fielder picked up 2 more today against the St. Lucie Mets and now has a 20-game hitting streak. The Mudcats won the game 4-1.
"Definitely somebody's going to stop me at some point," he said later, chuckling. "I'll enjoy it for the time being." Gage Canning singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a sac fly in the 9th.
This season Canning has banged out 44 hits in 149 at-bats for a .295 average with 7 home runs. He is getting on base at a .359 pace and his totals also include 26 RBIs and 27 runs scored.
