Yankees Nip Red Sox, 6-5
|
Boston got a terrific performance from second baseman Eduardo Nunez, but it wasn't enough to beat the New York Yankees. New York won the Fenway Park contest, 6-5. Nunez was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 4-5 with 4 singles. Kyle Zimmer earned his 3rd save in 4 chances. New York has now won 12 in a row.
It could have been a different outcome for New York, had it not been for Eloy Jimenez, the 22-year old right fielder . Jimenez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put New York up, 2-0.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Jimenez said.
