Braves Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Nationals
|
The Atlanta Braves topped the Washington Nationals by the score of 8-7, with the biggest share of the credit going to first baseman Lucas Duda. Duda went 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times for the Braves on the day. Atlanta reliever Michael Lorenzen was the winner. His record is now 3-5. Kyle Crick took the loss. Atlanta now sits at 63-79, while Washington falls to 75-66.
Duda had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a first pitch changeup from Kyle Crick, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Braves a 8-7 lead. It was the 22nd home run of the year for Duda.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Duda.
