Escobar, Athletics Clobber Astros
|
The exploits of third baseman Eduardo Escobar, who is tied for 10th in the AL in extra base hits with 61, helped the Oakland Athletics defeat the Houston Astros, 10-2. Escobar was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The third-place Athletics are now 68-76, the Astros 60-85.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases loaded and two out in the top of the third inning. That's when right fielder Mark Canha, who signed a 2-year contract worth $6,940,000 on 01/16/2019, hit a grand slam. The Athletics went on to win.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Canha. "And not try to do too much."
