The Houston Astros knocked off the Kansas City Royals, 3-2, at Kauffman Stadium. Rougned Odor, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Houston won. The designated hitter went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. James Pazos converted his 24th save in 28 tries. The last-place Astros improved to 62-89.
Houston used the timely hitting of Colin Moran to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Astros on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Bryce Shuck.
