Cardinals Bang Out 9-5 Win Versus Washington
|
Jose Alberto Martinez helped his team muscle past the Washington Nationals, 9-5. In the game, the St. Louis left fielder was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Chris Bassitt, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 2 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 8-12. The Cardinals improve their record to 60-92 with the win over Washington.
With one out in the bottom of the sixth, Yan Gomes had a game-changing hit. The Cardinals third baseman slammed a 2-run single off Wade Miley, making the score 4-1, St. Louis.
