The Houston Astros scored a 6-5 win versus the Kansas City Royals at Minute Maid Park. Houston pitcher Nick Neidert nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Houston reliever Justin Lawrence was credited with the win, to go to 2-1. Silvino Bracho took the loss for Kansas City. The Royals, now 17-20, have lost 5 straight.
The Astros got a clutch hit from Jorge Polanco with two out in the bottom of the eighth inning. Polanco jumped on a 2-2 changeup from Carl Edwards Jr. and hit a run-scoring single, staking his club to a 6-5 lead.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Polanco told the Houston Today. "It's as simple as that."
