Saturday, October 19th, 2019
The future looks extremely bright for Rio Ruiz. At the age of 25, many players are still trying to find their way in AA.
Ruiz has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the American Conference Most Valuable Player Award.
"I didn't expect to hit .363 this year, that's for sure," the third baseman said.
The Corpus Christi Hooks star also put up a .435 on-base percentage this year, with 154 hits, 41 doubles, 4 triples, 18 home runs, 98 RBIs and 86 runs scored.
He received 21 first place votes out of a possible 30. Samir Duenez of the Arkansas Travelers finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Dalton Pompey of the Montgomery Biscuits finished third with 5 first place votes.
