The Seattle Mariners beat the Texas Rangers, 4-3, at Safeco Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Manny Machado, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Jim Johnson was called on to finish, recording his 1st save. Seattle is in last place in the American League West Division with a record of 19-34.

Machado had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-1 cutter from Jon Lester, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Mariners a 4-2 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Machado.

"We found a way to get it done," Machado said.
