| Rangers Need Extras to Top Mariners | The Texas Rangers did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Yonny Chirinos, who captured player of the game honors. Texas reliever Anthony Swarzak picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Hector Velazquez was saddled with the loss. The Rangers have an impressive 36-22 record.
Max Stassi aided the Texas cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth. For the game, the catcher was 1-4 with a double and a walk.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Stassi, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
