| Reynolds Excels, But Brewers Win | Despite a fine performance by first baseman Mark Reynolds, the St. Louis Cardinals suffered a 4-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. Reynolds slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Milwaukee reliever Grant Dayton picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Zac Reininger was saddled with the loss. Andrew Miller earned save number 5.
Had Logan Forsythe not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Forsythe hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Brewers.
In postgame comments to the Milwaukee Chronicle, Forsythe said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Milwaukee has run its win streak to 6 in a row.
