Rockies Waste Great Game from Bauers
|
Colorado got a terrific game from first baseman Jake Bauers. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Arizona, 10-9. Bauers was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 6 runs and scored once. Arizona reliever J.B. Wendelken was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Mike Fiers. Riley Ferrell was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 4 save opportunities.
Josh Reddick contributed to the Arizona win with a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 4 RBI.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Colorado manager Rex Shuck. "But we decided not to take it."
Arizona's record now stands at 46-47, placing them 4th in the National League West Division.
