Pirates Fall Short at Cleveland
|
The Indians faced a stiff challenge from Pittsburgh pitcher Rick Porcello, but persevered to claim a win at Progressive Field. The final score was 4-3. Porcello went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Cleveland is now 44-56.
The Indians got a big at-bat from designated hitter Steven Souza Jr.. For the game, Souza Jr. went 2-5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the 11th, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 70th hit of the season gave Cleveland a 4-3 lead.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Pittsburgh manager Corey Wehr.
