Nationals Shut Out Mets
|
The Washington Nationals topped the New York Mets, 7-0, in National League action at Nationals Park. The player of the game was Washington pitcher and Dallas, Texas native Nathan Karns. The first-place Nationals, at 64-44, now lead their division by 2½ games.
The Nationals got a big at-bat from third baseman Yulieski Gurriel. For the game, Gurriel went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 21st home run of the season gave Washington a 2-0 lead.
