Red Sox Drop Another One
|
New York third baseman Anthony Rendon was instrumental in his team's 5-3 win over the Boston Red Sox. Rendon, who is tied for 7th in the AL in extra base hits with 51, went 2-3 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Yankees. Walker Buehler was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. The third-place Red Sox have lost 5 consecutive games.
Rendon contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for New York in the top of the second. With his team trailing 2-1, Rendon took a curveball from Dan Straily and stroked the home run to left. His 23rd home run of the season allowed the Yankees to leap in front, 4-2.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Rendon said.
