Diamondbacks Squelch Giants Offense in Shutout Win
|
Arizona starter Max Fried pitched effectively against the San Francisco Giants at Chase Field. The left-hander led his team to a 4-0 win. The 4th-place Diamondbacks have won 4 in a row.
Alex Verdugo had a big 2-run single for the Diamondbacks in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Arizona leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Trevor Williams and stroked the single to center. It was his 12th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Diamondbacks ahead, 4-0.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said San Francisco manager Jesse Vansickle. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
