The Cleveland Indians got a superb performance from pitcher Ervin Santana, but the Minnesota Twins still won the game, 5-3. Santana was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. The Twins now have a record of 51-64.
Had Freddie Freeman not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Freeman hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Twins.
Freeman called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
