Phillies Come Up Short at Arizona
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks took Philadelphia pitcher David Price's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Chase Field. The final score had Arizona getting past the Phillies, 5-4. Price went 5 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 5. Arizona reliever Riley Ferrell picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Joe Smith shouldered the loss. Jandel Gustave, credited with the save, is now 5 for 5 in save opportunities.
In the bottom of the 6th, catcher Francisco Mejia gave Arizona the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Diamondbacks had been trailing 3-2, but the two-out single off Philadelphia pitcher Joe Smith changed that -- and Arizona went on to win.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Mejia said.
At 57-59, the Diamondbacks find themselves in 4th place in the National League West Division.
