Pirates Beat Giants in 11
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the San Francisco Giants, 7-6 at AT&T Park, in part due to center fielder Carlos Gomez, who nabbed player of the game honors. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Pittsburgh reliever Seranthony Dominguez got the win, raising his record to 3-1. Tony Watson was tagged with the loss. The last-place Pirates now have a win-loss record of 46-69.
Gomez had a game-changing home run in the top of the 11th. On a 1-1 fastball from Tony Watson, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Pirates a 7-6 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Gomez.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Pittsburgh manager Corey Wehr.
