Cardinals Win 5-4 Walk-Off
|
Both teams had their chances, but the St. Louis Cardinals eventually prevailed at Busch Stadium.
The St. Louis Cardinals scored a 5-4 win versus the Washington Nationals at Busch Stadium. St. Louis pitcher Chris Bassitt nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. St. Louis reliever Zack Littell picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-0. Dominic Leone was collared with the loss.
Eduardo Escobar was the walk-off hero for St. Louis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cardinals third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Bassitt said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The 4th-place Cardinals now have a win-loss record of 58-63.
