Orioles Jolt Indians with Late Rally
|
The Baltimore Orioles picked up a win at Progressive Field, knocking off the Cleveland Indians, 4-3. Starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani played a key role in the triumph. Reliever Justin Wilson picked up the win. His record improves to 4-8. Simon Castro took the loss. Jeff Manship was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 5 save opportunities.
Had Albert Almora not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Almora hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Orioles.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Almora. "And not try to do too much."
The slumping Indians have dropped 6 in a row.
