Giants Top Reds in Extras
|
Cincinnati pitcher Felix Hernandez gave the Giants all they could handle, but in the end, San Francisco left Great American Ball Park with a 3-2 win. Hernandez allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits over 8 innings. San Francisco reliever Brad Hand got the win, raising his record to 6-7. Felipe Rivero was tagged with the loss. The first-place Giants are now 67-56, the Reds 75-47.
The Giants got a big at-bat from first baseman Anthony Rizzo. For the game, Rizzo was 1 for 5 with a home run. In the top of the 11th, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 25th home run of the season gave San Francisco a 3-2 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Rizzo told the San Francisco Citizen.
