Indians Nip Orioles, 3-2
|
The Cleveland Indians got a stellar performance from pitcher Ervin Santana, who handcuffed the Baltimore offense en route to a 3-2 win at Progressive Field. Santana, now 7-12, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. The Indians, at 53-70, sit in last place in the American League Central Division.
Christian Yelich, who is on pace for 100 RBI this season, aided the Cleveland cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Cleveland manager Mitchell King. "Our pregame was pretty good."
