Phillies Trip Nationals in Extras
|
Philadelphia catcher Russell Martin had a 4-RBI performance, which helped his team grab a 6-5 win over the Washington Nationals. The winner was Philadelphia reliever Seung-hwan Oh, now 3-3. The loser was Dominic Leone. Joe Smith converted his 3rd save in 5 tries.
The Phillies got a big at-bat from right fielder Denard Span. For the game, Span went 1-4 with a walk. In the top of the 12th, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 9th hit of the season gave Philadelphia a 6-5 lead.
"It was a solid team effort," said Martin after the game.
The Phillies bumped their record to 75-51 with this latest triumph.
