Twins Bridle Astros, 4-3
|
With designated hitter Kendrys Morales leading the charge, the Minnesota Twins defeated the Houston Astros, 4-3, at Minute Maid Park. Morales was 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Nick Pivetta got the win, improving to 9-12. He worked 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. A.J. Ramos converted his 15th save in 16 tries.
Morales had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 0-1 changeup from Robbie Ray, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Twins a 4-3 lead. It was the 30th home run of the year for Morales.
Houston manager Temp GM said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The Twins raised their record to 64-75.
